Flinders Business Advisory Board

Role/Charter

The Flinders Business Advisory Board consists of an external, expert and experienced group of industry practitioners who advise the College and serve as a reference point. The Board ensures that our programs and courses foster graduates with the skills they need to work in a constantly changing environment. Advisory Board members are leaders in industry, government and the professions who are committed to ensuring that the College continues to provide high quality education and research.

Terms of Reference

The College of Business, Government and Law Industry Advisory Board serves as a source of independent advice to the Vice-President and Executive Dean of the College of Business, Government and Law on:

Relevance of course structure and curriculum content
Trends in demand for graduates
Strategic opportunities for recruitment, collaboration and engagement
Relevance to output in industry: engagement and current trends

The Advisory Board will:

Guide the future directions of the College
Assist the College to increase its engagement with industry, professional bodies and the community
Use members’ professional networks, profile and reputation to raise the profile of, and build, the College’s reputation and the Flinders University brand
Offer a broader perspective on education and research program directions
Provide a forum for the dissemination of information on matters of interest to the College
Consider the College curriculum in terms of goals, teaching and provision of resourcesMeetings

Composition

Board members will comprise:
- Chair (external senior member of the community)
- Up to 12 external members
- Vice-President and Executive Dean of the College of Business, Government and Law or delegate
- Director of College Services of the College of Business, Government and Law
Membership will be by invitation, with all external members appointed by the Vice-President and Executive Dean of the College of Business, Government and Law
Members will be appointed for a three-year term
