Learning and teaching Academic promotion - dates, policies and procedures

Flinders University academic promotion policy supports the promotion of academic staff, recognising and rewarding sustained excellence across academic activity and supporting the University in meeting the strategic priorities of the 2025 Agenda.

Relevant dates, polices and procedures related to academic progression can be found on this page.

The application process for academic promotion for 2022 will be invited from Monday, 18 April 2022. Please note the updated application form will be available from this date.

Please find below the agreed timetable for the 2022 Academic Promotions round.

The call

The call for promotions will be released on Monday 18 April 2022. At this time access to the website and all relevant promotion material, including the application form, will be accessible here. Please monitor this page for any updates.

Application submission dates

Level B-C

  • Application to Supervisor closing date Friday 12 August 2022 (please note if your supervisor is the Dean P&R the application should be submitted to the Dean P&R at this date and not the later date below)
  • Application to Dean P&R closing date Friday 19 August 2022
  • Application to People and Culture Friday 2 September 2022

Level D-E

  • Application to Supervisor closing date Friday 12 August 2022 (please note if your supervisor is the Dean P&R the application should be submitted to the Dean P&R at this date)
  • Application to VPED Closing date Friday 26 August 2022
  • Application to People and Culture Friday 9 September 2022

Committee dates

The Committees will meet w/c 26 September 2022 (Level B-C), and w/c 17 October 2022 (Level D-E).

Decision dates

Following the Committee Meetings decisions will be made and promotion letters will be issued within a 2 week period following the completion of the committee meeting.

Promotion entitlements will take effect 1 January 2023.
