When a staff member leaves CMPH, a well-managed offboarding process helps minimise disruption and ensures key responsibilities, knowledge, records and resources are appropriately transferred.
As a supervisor, you play an important role in coordinating offboarding activities, supporting the departing staff member, and ensuring University and College requirements are completed before their final day. The resources below have been developed to assist you throughout the offboarding process.
Supervisors will receive an email from the College Executive Support Team notifying them of an upcoming staff departure. This communication is intended to support early planning and provide a reminder to commence offboarding activities as soon as possible.
The WHS Checklist is also required to be completed for all exiting staff.
To support a smooth and consistent offboarding process, we've prepared a range of communication templates that supervisors can customise and use when communicating a staff member's departure. A set of suggested exit interview questions is also available to help capture valuable feedback from departing staff members.
As part of the offboarding process, supervisors should consider arrangements for the departing staff member's office or workstation. Given the high demand for office space across the College, workspaces should ideally be vacated and prepared for future occupancy as soon as possible following the staff member's departure.
The departing staff member will receive an email from the College Executive Support Team requesting the return of any University-issued laptops, with the supervisor copied for reference. University-issued laptops must be returned prior to departure. Monitors, docking stations and other fixed workspace equipment should remain in place for future staff use.
Rural and Remote Health
The RRH Facilities Team and RRH IT Support will be notified of departing staff members and will work with supervisors on arrangements relating to office space, workstations and University-issued ICT equipment. This helps ensure a smooth transition and timely preparation of workspaces for future use.
