The University offers two options for flexible work.
Conversion to part-time for family reasons
This option allows you to care for a family member by reducing your hours of work to a minimum fraction of 0.5 for a specified period.

Part-year employment
This type of working option allows you to take an additional maximum of four weeks leave without pay but have your salary averaged over the full year.
This may also be referred to as a 48/52 arrangement or purchased leave.
The additional leave is often taken to coincide with school holidays to provide care for school-aged children.

You may enter into a salary packaging arrangement through payroll services employee benefits for superannuation, Flinders Onefitness centre membership, and car parking permits.

Staff are welcome to use the Health service which is a fully equipped and accredited medical centre, located at the Bedford Park campus.
FlindersOne Sports and Fitness provides excellent sporting and fitness facilities at Bedford Park campus. The three level fitness centre includes a group fitness room, cardio room, weights room and gymnasium with showers, changerooms and lockers available.
Personal training and short courses are available. Eligible staff members can salary package their gym membership.
Flinders University offers childcare and breast-feeding facilities on campus.

Maternity leavers' forums are held twice a year and everyone is welcome.
The Oasis centre is a multi-faith community. Chaplains from different faiths are available including the Uniting Church, Hindu, Pagan, Muslim, Lutheran and Buddhist.
Oasis is situated in the basement level of the Function Centre, Humanities Road, opposite carpark 5. Prayer rooms are located in Oasis.
Oasis offers hospitality, promotes well-being and fosters inclusive spirituality - inspiring a culture of care at Flinders University.
The EAP is a professional and confidential counselling service available to assist staff who may require help to resolve personal problems. Staff can access the EAP without a referral.
Assistance can be provided for a variety of personal, emotional or work related problems. The first three sessions are paid for by the University.
University staff and students and their families are able to arrange their personal travel insurance cover through the University’s insurer.

Flinders University is delighted to provide special discounts for staff for a limited period from 2022.
Special discounts for staff are available for the redesigned Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses, as well as the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma of Business Administration.
Flinders University staff can apply for a 30% course discount for our MBA courses. This can be applied in conjunction with support from the Professional Staff Development Fund, subject to the normal eligibility criteria.
Requirements are that staff must meet the entry requirements for the course. All professional and academic staff employed by the university regardless of mode of employment are eligible, noting that the discount may be subject to FBT if there is not sufficient connection between the employee’s current role and the MBA program.
