Casual Academic Scheduling & Payment (CASP)

CASP is Flinders University’s system specifically designed to create, offer, and pay scheduled activities for our casual academic staff. The system accommodates teaching and non-teaching activities, the offer to work and variations to schedules.

When did CASP become available

Casual Academic Scheduling & Payments (CASP) went live on 23 September 2022. The new system will be introduced in stages with go live on 23 September 2022 being the first stage.

More functionality will be introduced in CASP as business needs evolve.

How do I access CASP

Casual Academic Scheduling & Payments (CASP) is available through your Flinders University Okta Dashboard. 

Please note those required to undertake actions in CASP will have automatic access granted (other may be given access if required). For more information see FAQ How do I get access to CASP.

CASP may be used on a mobile device. Note to enable this, you need to allow permissions for Office 365.

How do I get access to CASP

Existing staff 

Automatic access has been granted for involved staff, this includes:

  • Education Resources Officers
  • Casual Academics 
  • Topic Coordinators 
  • Deans, People and Resources

Casual Academic Scheduling & Payments (CASP) can be found through your Flinders University Okta Dashboard. 

New staff 

Casual Academics new to the university will automatically have CASP add to their Flinders University Okta Dashboard upon completion of all tasks, including supervisor tasks, in Workday.

If a casual academic role is not your primary role you will not automatically receive access. Please raise a service one request and our support team will be able to grant you access.

For requests for access or any queries, please raise a Service One request to CASP support and our support team will respond to you.

Who has access to CASP

For stage 1, the following roles will have access to Casual Academic Scheduling & Payments (CASP):

  • Education Resources Officers
  • Casual Academics 
  • Topic Coordinators 
  • Deans, People and Resources

Who is involved in the new process

Casual Academic Scheduling & Payments (CASP) involves:

  1. Education Resource Officers will create work schedules for casual academics in CASP.
  2. Casual academics will receive their work schedule via email (to accept or decline) in CASP.
  3. Casual academics will be paid as per current processes (based on their work schedule) via CASP.
  4. Education Resource Officers will enter any schedule variations (where required) in CASP.

What has changed from FlindersPro to CASP

FlindersPro is no longer in use for the management of Casual Academic Scheduling and Payments. 

A new and improved system, Casual Academic Scheduling & Payments (CASP), has been developed to manage scheduling and payment of Casual Academics moving forward. 

This system will be introduced in stages, with the first stage going live on 23 September 2022. Click on What’s changing for a snapshot of the roles and functions involved in the 2022 stages.

For Casual Academics, please use CASP to accept and view your offers and schedules. All schedules for Semester 1 2022 from FlindersPro have been migrated into CASP.

  1. For enquires surrounding past scheduled activities, please contact your Education Resources Officer.
  2. For payslip enquires please email payroll@flinders.edu.au 
  3. For any other enquiries or request for support please raise a Service One request to CASP support.

 

What is managed in CASP

Casual Academic Scheduling and Payments (CASP) has replaced FlindersPro and covers the schedule to payment process for Casual Academics. This includes any variations for past, present, or future activities.

How does pay work in CASP

Casual academics are paid based on your work schedule and variations will be made where required. The key change is Casual Academic pay will now be processed from CASP opposed to FlindersPro.

Where can I go for support

In the first instance, please reach out to your college education resources officer as they have a wealth of knowledge on the system and schedules.

If it is a system error you seek advice on, please raise a service one request and our support team will respond to you.

Note that if you are using your mobile device to access CASP, all office 365 permissions will need to be allowed in order for the system to work. You need to use your Flinders email address. All other email address options will not allow access.

How do I accept my offer to work

Please refer to and follow the Offer to Work guide.

The Offer to Work guide will assist in all aspects of the offer to work process, including how it works, what screens mean and how to decline an offer to work.

For any questions or requests for support, please either speak with your college education resources officer or raise a Service One request to CASP support.

Notes:

  • If you are unable to accept your offer to work in full as a Casual Academic, please reach out to your Topic Coordinator in the first instance to discuss the reasoning.
  • If a schedule change is required, your Topic Coordinator will liaise with their Education Resources Officer to make the changes and send a new offer out.
Can someone else accept my offer to work

No. No one else is able to accept your offer to work on your behalf.

Who can I contact for questions or to request a variation

For questions or support:

There are dedicated support people and processes in place to help all those involved in this change.

If you experience a system or technical issue and need support, please raise a Service One request to CASP support.

For variation queries or requests:

Please see your Topic Coordinators (for CHASS, CMPH, CNHS, CSE) or Teaching Program Director (for EPSW/BGL) for offers to work and variation queries.

Your Topic Coordinators or Teaching Program Directors will then ask the Education Resources Officer to make any changes required in CASP.

In CASP what does scheduled hours, associated hours and total hours mean

As per our Enterprise Agreement the descriptors for Casual Academic staff show what is paid for each activity can be found in Schedule 5 “Rates and Descriptors for Casual Academic Staff”. 

Support for digital and IT services

Opening hours: 8am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays

After hours or when all staff are busy you will be given an option to leave a voicemail message. Voicemails will be accessed as soon as practical during business hours otherwise you may choose to log an IT support request.
