Verify a research output (Library)

Overview

This guide shows you how to find and check research output that needs to be verified by the library. This process starts after the researcher has submitted their research output for validation, and results in a record that is visible on the Portal.   

RDS will also perform verification activities concurrently to the Library.

Process

Steps

1. Login to ResearchNow.
2. At the right hand of the screen a list of ‘Tasks and notifications’ will be visible. Under Tasks Select on ## Research outputs are waiting to be pushed to the next workflow step.
   • Alternatively:
     1. go to Research Outputs
     2. Select on the Filter option at the top and choose Workflow
     3. In Workflow select on For validation – Creation/forwarding
     4. Select Search
3. Select the record you want to verify. A pop-up appears.If not done already by RDS, set the Visibility status of the record to “Backend” and the status of the record to “Validated”. This will ensure that the record is locked to the researcher while the Library is verifying the output and that it does not appear on the portal.
4. Select Save after these settings have been changed&
5. If RDS have already set the record to “Validated” then you will also need to identify these by filtering to records set to Validated and created in last few days or week (Workflow state = Validated and Period = Content created on past week or a custom date)
6. Select Library Workflow keyword and set status to “Library verification in progress”
7. Go through the record. Check and update existing content, and add missing content as per the minimum verified content required for portal visibility
8. Once the record is ready to be visible on Portal
   • Change the Visibility status to “Public”
   • Save the changes at the bottom of the window.
9. Continue verification activities for the record that are not necessary for portal visibility.
   • Save the changes at the bottom of the window.
10. When all verification activities are completed select Library Workflow keyword and set status to “Library verification complete” and then select Save.
