Staff Portal project

The Staff Portal project includes the delivery and maintenance of the staff, student and library websites.

The project commenced in June 2018 and will assist the University in meeting its strategic goals, providing a new websites for staff and students to interact with University services. 

As part of the Staff Portal project the student and library websites were also created so that the legacy CMS could be decommissioned and to provide students and staff a better experience on both desktops and mobiles.

Outcomes of the project

• Content to be task driven rather than department driven. A user won't need to know what department looks after content to find it.
• All content to be migrated off the legacy CMS (ShadowCMS) and onto AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) to allow decommissioing of the legacy CMS.
• An improved search. 
• The websites to have a modern appearance in line with the new public-facing website.
• Content updated along with user centric navigation.
• The ability to FAN protected selected content.
• An overall experience that is more consistent with content accessible across all devices.
• Greater control over access to create new staff content by using a centralised governance model, ensuring new content is created using appropriate web standards and styles and is consistent.
• Content and structure of the new University web sites in line with the current University structure.
