Join the CMPH Learning and Teaching Academy

Your registration and responses will help us to understand the diversity of education staff in CMPH and to target the LTA offerings to meet your needs.

The CMPH LTA is open to all teaching academics including teaching specialists and balanced academics. Academic Status holders, clinical educators and Professional staff are also welcome.

Academy members can participate in both college-based and university-wide activities.

Researching Learning and Teaching initiative

The Researching Learning and Teaching initiative is jointly hosted by the College of Medicine & Public Health's Teaching & Learning Academy and the Prideaux Discipline of Clinical Education in CMPH. The initiative is designed to provide introduce participants to educational research within a broad health and clinical education context, and to coach them through the process of designing, planning, conducting, and disseminating an educational research project.

Presented by an expert; participants submit their questions, get some expert input, and dispel the myths. Participants are asked to complete the form below and provide questions at least 2 weeks before the Master Class.

Open Classroom series

In the Open Classroom initiative, different types of classrooms (e.g. Team Based Learning, small group tutorials, lectures, practical teaching sessions) are opened up to showcase ‘teaching in action’ and provide opportunity for peer observation. The observation is followed by a short informal discussion between the educator and observers. The process is collegial and supportive, and will provide participants with a safe space to enhance their teaching practice.

Register for the open classroom that piques your interest; spaces are limited and filled on first-come, first-served basis. If you don't have a FAN and password please email cmph.academy@flinders.edu.au to register.
Visit your nominated open classroom
Engage in a post classroom discussion (20mins) with the educator. Some of the elements that you can ask about include techniques/strategies for: actively engaging students; providing feedback; questioning; catering for student diversity; linking theory to real world practice; prompting critical thinking and reflection; and communication
Provide feedback to the CMPH Academy via a short evaluation survey

Interested in opening your classroom?

Please register your interest and we will contact you to make arrangements.

If you choose to open up your classroom, you will:

receive a list of attendees a few days before your open classroom
agree to allocate approx. 20 mins for a post classroom informal discussion with attendees. Attendees may ask you about techniques/strategies for: actively engaging students; providing feedback; questioning; catering for student diversity; linking theory to real world practice; prompting critical thinking and reflection; and/or communication
provide feedback to the CMPH Academy via a short evaluation survey
