Publication support

The college is acutely aware of the high cost of publishing in some top ranked journals and when pursuing open access options. It also acknowledges the expectation on staff to pursue highly ranked journals given the likely positive impact on University metrics, and pursuing the open access option to maximise equitable availability and impact. While College based funding of all publication costs is not feasible given the high number of publications each year, a limited pool of funding is available to assist staff with such costs under some circumstances.

Requests can be submitted anytime. The Committee meets fortnightly and requests will be added to the agenda of the next meeting scheduled.

A maximum of $2,000 per publication is available.

Applications will be assessed by the Resource Committee on a case by case basis with priority given based on the following criteria:

  • SciMago top 10% journals
  • Researchers less than 10 years post PhD completion
  • Researchers with no access to consultancy funds or other discretionary funding
