Learning and teaching Academic promotion - dates, policies and procedures

Flinders University academic promotion policy supports the promotion of academic staff, recognising and rewarding sustained excellence across academic activity and supporting the University in meeting the strategic priorities of the 2025 Agenda.

Relevant dates, policies and procedures related to academic progression can be found on this page.

The application process for academic promotion for 2025 will be invited from Monday 31 March 2025.

Please find below the agreed timetable for the 2025 Academic Promotions round.

The call

The call for promotions will be released on Monday 31 March 2025. At this time access to the website and all relevant promotion material, including details of filling out the application through Service One will be accessible here. Please monitor this page for any updates.

Application submission dates

For Promotions to Level B or C

  • Application to Supervisor closing date 12:00pm on Thursday 17 July 2025 (please note if your supervisor is the Dean P&R the application should be submitted to the Dean P&R at this date and not the later date below)
  • Application to Dean P&R closing date 12:00pm on Thursday 24 July 2025
  • Application to People and Culture closing date 12:00pm on Thursday 7 August 2025

For Promotions to Level D or E

  • Application to Supervisor closing date 12:00pm on Thursday 7 August 2025 (please note if your supervisor is the Dean P&R the application should be submitted to the Dean P&R at this date)
  • Application to VPED Closing date 12:00pm on Thursday 14 August 2025
  • Application to People and Culture 12:00pm on Thursday 21 August 2025

Committee dates

The Committees will meet w/c 22 September 2025 (Level B-C), and w/c 13 October 2025 (Level D-E).

Decision dates

Following the Committee Meetings decisions will be made and promotion letters will be issued within a 2 week period following the completion of the committee meeting.

Promotion entitlements will take effect 1 January 2026.
