Managing trusted users

Overview

This guide explains how a user can add and remove a trusted user within ResearchNow and how a trusted user is able to switch to be this user.  

A trusted user is someone you allow to take control of your user account and who can then perform the same tasks as you in ResearchNow. This allows you to delegate control of your account to someone else; for example, when you will not be accessing the system for a period of time.

Process

Steps

Adding and removing a trusted user

1. Login to ResearchNow.
2. Select the dropdown next to your user name in the top right corner.
3. A pop-up appears. Select Trusted users on the left side of the window to open the menu.
4. To add a trusted user:
   1. Select the "Add user..." icon.
   2. Type the name of the staff member you want to add.
   3. When the staff member appears in the list, select their name.
   4. To remove a trusted user, click on the minus sign (-) to the right.
   5. Select Save to save your changes.

Switching to a trusted user (for user who has been trusted)

1. Login to ResearchNow
2. Select User switch
3. The trusted user name or names will appear and you can select a user name
4. Select the user that you would like to switch to. You will then be switched to this user
5. To switch back to your user account select xUser switch button next to your user name on top right hand corner

Notes

• A Trusted User will be able to access in system tasks and notifications for this user BUT not will not receive their email notifications.
• Any updates that are made by a trusted user on a user’s account will be recorded as having been made by the trusted user not the user who has trusted them.
