The VPED is key to supporting a positive academic experience for all students.
The VPED will sit on committees and groups on matters relating to learning and teaching, academic facilities and academic policy and processes.
The VPED is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor of the University and engages with other VPEDs from the other Colleges.
Dean (Education) Professor Karen Lower
The Dean (Education) will ensure the quality and sustainability of its educational endeavours for a globally competitive higher education environment. The role will drive innovation in curricula including internationalisation, management of continuous improvement activities related to learning and teaching, the student experience and achievement of domestic and international targets. The Dean (Education) is responsible for the overall management of professional accreditation processes for College programs.
Director, College Services Lorraine Karunaratne
The Director, College Services is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of professional support services for the College. The role makes proactive and positive contributions to the College’s service culture and goals of the University. The position will lead and manage diverse and multi-disciplinary professional staff teams to provide cohesive and consistent customer service to a range of stakeholders within the College.
Dean (People & Resources) Dr Jayanthi Jayakaran
The Dean (People & Resources) provides strategic leadership and oversight of the College’s workforce and organisational development. The role drives initiatives to support staff engagement, professional growth, and wellbeing, while ensuring efficient resource allocation and compliance with university policies, and is responsible for workforce planning, human resource governance, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture across the College.
Interim Dean (Rural & Remote Health) Professor Claire Drummond
The Dean (Rural and Remote Health) oversees the high quality multidisciplinary regional academic and research programs that positively impact some of the most diverse and culturally rich communities in Australia. The Dean (Rural and Remote Health) provides leadership and vision in developing evidence based strategies that support a sustainable and flourishing health workforce in rural and remote Australia.
Dean (Research) Professor Billie Bonevksi
The Dean Research and the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) Director will provide leadership and vision in setting the strategic research directions and goals for the College of Medicine and Public Health expanding research through the attraction of external grant and contract income and establishing its reputation on an international scale in alignment with the strategic directions of the College and University.
There are three distinct discipline groups within the College of Medicine and Public Health. A Discipline Group Lead (DGL) oversees the Discipline and provides support and guidance to the Discipline Leads. The two Rural and Remote Health Disciplines are overseen by Deputy Directors.

College Executive Support and Operations
As part of the embedded CMPH professional staff groups reporting to the Director of College Services, the College Executive Support team provides calendar and meeting support to the College Executive, administration generated from College Executive responsibilities (education, research, people and resources and college services) as well as meeting support for College Executive-led governance meetings.
In addition, the team purchases and distributes basic stationery items, receives the mail, coordinates the college onboarding process and can assist with triaging general enquiries.
The Senior Executive Officer leads the College Executive Support team.
