The Key Accountability Measures (KAM) annual reporting process is a core component of Flinders University’s academic monitoring, review, and improvement activities, as outlined in the Educational Quality Framework. It provides Colleges with targeted insights into undergraduate course performance and supports evidence-informed decision-making across academic governance.
KAM reporting enables:
The process supports continuous improvement and ensures that undergraduate courses meet institutional expectations for quality and performance.
Each year, Colleges receive a reporting template populated with:
Colleges are asked to:
Monitoring and review of course quality and performance at Flinders occurs through a coordinated set of activities across multiple levels. The KAM process is one of several mechanisms that contribute to this broader framework. At the course and topic level, Course Quality Advisory Groups (CQAGs) meet annually to review data and feedback, assess course and topic design, and consider alignment with industry needs and student expectations. For courses delivered through third-party academic arrangements, Joint Management Committees (JMCs) also meet at least annually to evaluate both course quality and partnership performance.
These activities - CQAGs, JMCs, and KAM - each provide distinct but complementary insights. While CQAGs focus on detailed course and topic-level analysis, and JMCs on partnership-specific oversight, the KAM process offers a higher-level view of undergraduate course performance against internal benchmarks and external sector data, including insights from the HES Academic Benchmarking Tool. Together, these annual processes inform the Internal Course Accreditation (ICA) cycle, which occurs every 5–7 years and provides a comprehensive, longitudinal review of course performance, quality, and strategic alignment.
Completed KAM reports are submitted annually to the:
This structured reporting pathway ensures that undergraduate course performance is reviewed at all levels of academic governance. The process enables Colleges to respond to internal benchmarks with meaningful analysis and proposed actions, fostering continuous improvement and supporting strategic planning across the University.
