How we conduct ourselves reflects upon Flinders University as an institution, and our colleagues and collaborators.
Flinders University has produced a clear and accessible Code of Conduct, which sets out expectations of behaviour and individual responsibilities and obligations.
Informed by our core values and ethos, and the result of a university-wide consultation process, the Code of Conduct is intended to help build a culture of courtesy and respect.
The Code applies to staff and others working or visiting campus as set out in its preamble.
The 11 points of the Code are underpinned by standards that are more closely defined in our policies and procedures, various legislation, and industrial agreements.
If you are concerned by behaviour that you think may be a breach of the Code, please contact your supervisor, or People and Culture Partner.
Together, we can exemplify the integrity, excellence, innovation and courage to which we constantly aspire.
All those to whom this Code of Conduct applies are required to:
Uphold the ethos and values of the University
Conduct all their work-related activities safely and in accordance with applicable laws
Understand and comply with all applicable University statutes, policies and procedures
Respect and uphold the principles of equity, inclusivity and diversity to ensure a workplace that is free from discrimination and harassment
Promote and maintain Flinders University as an environment where there is no place for bullying, sexual harassment or sexual assault
Maintain the highest standards of academic integrity
Value and uphold the freedom of speech and academic freedom
Avoid or disclose and manage all actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest
Protect the University's confidential information and intellectual property
Use the University's funds, property and other resources responsibly and for the benefit of the University
Act in the interests of the University and uphold its reputation
A 60 minute self-paced online course is available for staff to build awareness and understanding of the Code.
Flinders’ strategic plan, Making a Difference: The 2025 Agenda, outlines the University’s vision and mission for the coming years.
