The Careers and Employability Service is your resource to help students build their employability skills and transition to employment. We work with students across all disciplines and study levels, providing assistance to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
We invite you to work with us to provide our students with careers support throughout their degree. Our services and programs assist students to prepare for employment from their first year at university up until 18 months post completion.
We can support you with
- embedding employability skills in the curriculum and developing tailored online resources
- engaging with industry
- professional skills development for students
- additional work experience opportunities
- promoting employer events
Our online employment portal, CareerHub is a one stop shop for students and staff and includes employment opportunities, career events and resources.
Embedded employability skills content
We provide customised presentations in topics. Our career education modules include career planning and pathways, job application support, strategies to build employability skills and advice from employers and industry professionals. Our staff can work in consultation with you to tailor content- both in person and online, to enhance students' employability skills development across all year levels.
Contact us to discuss how we can work with you.
Industry and employer engagement
The Careers and Employability Service works closely with industry and professional associations to enhance employer- student interaction. We regularly have employers on campus and invite them into presentations to provide students with up to date industry expectations and facilitate engagement opportunities.
The Horizon Award is an award program unique to Flinders University, which fosters the importance of developing professional skills alongside academic studies and rewards these activities with formal recognition.
The Horizon Award workshops are a series of workshops and seminars focusing on workplace employability skills. They are designed to further develop students' abilities and place an emphasis on the practical skills necessary in the workplace.
Tailored job postings
Our online employment portal, Flinders CareerHub, connects all students with current job postings and employment opportunities. Students receive personalised job notifications, based on their preferences, and easily gain access to all employment activities and events.
Preparation for employment
We can support your students through providing course pathways advice. Refer students to our range of workshops, resources, career chats, employer webinars, or contact us for more information. We help students explore career options and identify actions to achieve a job which aligns with their skills, values and interests. During their time at university, please encourage students to use our services to develop those capacities required to become career ready graduates.
