Strengthen your FAN account security with MFA
To register your device for the multi-factor authentication, follow the steps below. This process requires a smartphone. If you don't have a smartphone, refer to the FAQ section, "I don't have a smartphone. How can I activate MFA on my account?".
To install Okta Verify on your iPhone or iPad, open App store app on your device and search for Okta Verify.
If you want a shortcut and know how to use QR codes, open camera on your phone and line up the QR code below in the camera frame. When the scanner reads the code, a pop-up containing the URL to the Okta Verify app page will appear.
To install Okta Verify on your Android phone, open Google play store app on your device and search for Okta Verify.

On your desktop computer or laptop, go to your Okta Dashboard. Select the icon, Enrol Multifactor.
After clicking Enrol Multifactor, click the Setup button under the title Okta Verify.
Next, select your smartphone type by bringing your cursor to the icon of your phone brand, and then click on the Next button. A QR code will appear on your screen.
Open the Okta Verify on your smartphone. Tap on the Add Account button and you will be prompted to scan the QR code shown on your computer screen. Click on Finished (shown on your computer screen) to complete the enrollment process.
To sign in to your FAN account, follow the steps below.
Click on the Send Push button. Open the Okta Verify on your mobile phone.
Tap on ‘Yes, It’s Me’ to authenticate the login.
You are now signed into Okta dashboard.
You can choose to receive a PIN code in text (SMS) message instead to verify your Okta login. Contact the Service Desk to enable the SMS option and follow the steps below to complete the enrolment process.
On your computer, go to Okta dashboard and click on the 'Enrol MFA' icon. Click on the 'Setup' button under 'SMS Authentication' to select SMS as your MFA option.
Select 'Australia' as your country, enter your phone number and click on 'Send Code'. You will receive a PIN code on your phone.
Enter the PIN code on the screen and click on 'Verify'. Your enrolment is complete. Click on 'Finish' to complete the enrolment process.

Unless you’re using a new device or browser, you shouldn’t need your MFA app/device when logging in on-campus. If for some reason you do, please contact the IDS Service Desk and they can assist you in logging in.
You will need Internet access on your smartphone to use MFA overseas. If this is not possible, you will need to register for a Yubikey MFA option (See above).
You can transfer Multi-factor authentication (MFA) from your old device to a new device from the Settings menu in your Okta dashboard. Follow the steps below:

This may be due to the version of your phone or your location. If you’re using an iPhone 5 or older. Alternatively, search for ‘Google Authenticator’ which is also a Multi-factor authentication app.
No. You can only enrol one device at a time for Okta Verify.
No. For security purposes, MFA is mandatory and you are not able to opt-out
Yes. Next time you log in, tick ‘Do not challenge me on this device for 7 days’
Call the Service Desk. They will be able to help you reset and re-register MFA.
