Handbook provides up to date information on all courses and topics offered at Flinders and replaces the course rules and topic information pages for all curriculum offered in 2022 and beyond.
For any curriculum commencing in 2021 or earlier, view the course rules page.
Integrating directly with CourseLoop, the university’s curriculum management system, Handbook is the culmination of data cleansing, curriculum structure building and the application of approved data principles.
Each course component (Major, Minor or Honours program) is approved as an individual entity and can have a relationship with one or more courses through its inclusion in the curriculum structure of those courses. Each course component has a unique code and its own Handbook page.
Where a course component is available in a 'Program of study', the number of units to be completed for each year will be clearly displayed in that year. The list of available course components will then be listed underneath the 'Program of study' so students can easily explore their choices.
Handbook is a direct interface from the universities curriculum management system, CourseLoop. CourseLoop manages governed data that is approved under the Award Courses Policy. Information such as topic coordinator, timetable, fees and key dates, is managed using other processes and systems. To find this additional topic information, click the ‘Timetable, dates, fees and topic coordinator’ link from the Handbook topic page.
Handbook is a direct interface from CourseLoop, the universities curriculum management system. When curriculum is approved through CourseLoop, there is an immediate publication in Handbook.
Go to the course rules page to find all course rules prior to 2022.
The decision was made to include phasing out courses for the current year so students still completing those courses can navigate to a course page in Handbook and access their pre-2021 course rules.
When a course is discontinued, it is no longer visible in the Handbook.
Prospective students will see phasing out courses in search results, if they navigate to that course page, they will see the course is being phased out.
To find Enabling courses, use the Advanced Search from the home page and in the right-hand side menu, select Level of Study > Enabling.
Pathway courses, such as Foundation Studies, can be found by typing ‘pathway’ in the main search tool on the home page and selecting the ‘Courses’ tab at the top and the relevant college in the left side menu.
All courses with an online offering can be found by clicking on the advanced search function from the home page. Click on the 'Courses' tab and use the 'Mode of delivery' filter, selecting the online option.
The program of study specifies the topics that must be undertaken to complete your degree and indicates when they should be taken during the course of your study. Each program of study has a link to a suggested study plan.
Core topics are displayed in first half and second half year containers, indicating when the topic is being offered and when it should be undertaken. Some core topics are offered in both halves of the year and you can check this by clicking on the topic tile in the program of study to check its availabilities.
Option topics are not displayed in year halves, providing students with the flexibility to complete an option topic wherever they have space in their program of study.
The advanced search options for topics include an option to filter by ‘Offered in’ first, second or both half years but currently does not allow a search for summer semester. We are hoping to develop this functionality in the near future.
