Business Intelligence and Planning

The Business Intelligence and Planning team supports decision-making across the University. By gathering, analysing, and interpreting data, we provide actionable insights on the University’s academic and research performance. This function ensures that data-driven strategies inform the University’s development, resource allocation, and future planning efforts. 

Here's how we can help

• Data strategy and governance: We develop and implement a University-wide data strategy, ensuring consistent data definitions and integrity across all University systems. We are responsible for the coordination and convening of the University's data governance body.
• Reporting, analytics and self-service: We partner with IDS to develop reports, dashboards and analytical models to assist in conducting trend analysis to inform decision-making. We support self-service BI capabilities by training stafff on accessing and intrepreting BI reports, enabling users to generate their own insights.
• Institutional and regulatory reporting: We prepare internal reports for the Academic Senate and sub-committees. We also ensure accurate and timely reporting to government agencies and accreditation bodies (e.g., TEQSA, Department of Education, HEIMS, QILT, ABS), and manage data collection and submissions for major university rankings and reporting agencies. 
• Strategic and operational planning: We analyse and forecast student load to inform resource planning and support academic workload modelling for efficient resource allocation. We also facilitate strategic planning and performance benchmarking against peer institutions.
