Cross-College Research Grants

The Cross-College Research Grant (CCRG) scheme has been established to promote collaboration across colleges and support research performance at Flinders. The CCRG is intended to support research likely to lead to ERA eligible top-quality publications or external grant applications. Funding for Cross-College Research Grants is provided on a matched co-funding basis between the relevant Flinders colleges.

Value: up to $5,000 per participating College.

High Impact Collaboration Research Development Fund

The High Impact Collaborative Research Development Fund is designed to support the development of major bids for external research funding led by Flinders University.

  • Value: Funding of up to $100k will be available for expenditure in 2021 to support the development of bids for at least $1.5m of research funding coming to Flinders.
  • Closing date: Submissions close on Friday 11 December 2020.

Research Infrastructure Funding

The Research Infrastructure Funding scheme, a component of the Vice-Chancellor’s Research Investment Plan, provides funding for research equipment and infrastructure. Investment in research infrastructure is central to building research capacity, producing high quality outputs, improving competitive grant competitiveness, supporting industry collaboration and attracting and retaining high quality researchers.

Innovation Partnership Seed Grants

The Flinders University Innovation Partnership Seed Grants encourage new partner organisation-linked research and provide seed-funding to assist in developing long-term research engagement with partner organisations leading to high quality external grant applications.

Value: Up to $25,000

Closing date: 5 pm, Wednesday 14 October 2020. A ResearchNow application form must also be submitted before this deadline.

Flinders Foundation Health Seed Grants

The Flinders Foundation Health Seed Grant Round is open to all researchers across the Flinders medical precinct including all Flinders University researchers involved in health-related research. Up to $25,000 in seed funding is available to get each research project off the ground, bust myths and confirm hypotheses. The seed funding will enable researchers to produce preliminary data to apply for larger grants from national and international funding bodies.

Impact Seed Grants for Early Career Researchers

The Flinders University Impact Seed Funding Grant provides an opportunity for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to develop their careers and enable key research projects or promotion of research outcomes. Flinders University has partnered with our community of donors to provide the opportunity for ECRs to receive financial support to develop and fortify their skill sets. Our supporters want to make a difference by building our researchers’ capacity and capabilities to make a positive impact.

Value: Up to $10,000

Climate Response Seed Grants

The 2025 Agenda sets a challenge to the Flinders research community to ‘Address challenges of local, national and global significance to deliver outcomes that change lives for the better’.

Flinders University has established a Climate Response Seed Grant scheme to promote research on climate change and climate-related disaster mitigation, response and resilience, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research and, as prioritised in the 2025 Agenda, engagement with business, industry, government and non-government organisations.

Value: Up to $25,000

Carer Scheme (Conference Travel Fellowship (Carer Support))

Flinders University Conference Travel Fellowship (Carer Support) is to assist those researchers who normally would have difficulty attending and presenting at research conferences due to carer responsibilities.

  • Value: Up to $1,000 for National Conference / Up to $2,500 for International Conference.
  • Closing date: Open at any time.

Visiting International Research Fellowship

Visiting International Research Fellowship

The Flinders University Visiting International Research Fellowship is to provide funds to colleges to attract a visiting international researcher.

  • Number of Fellowships: Up to three (3) each year
  • Value: Typically $5,000 to $15,000 (3-12 weeks)
  • Closing date: The VIRF will not be offered in 2020

Re-entry Fellowship

The Flinders University Re-entry Fellowship is to assist researchers in re-establishing their research careers after time away from research due to parental leave.

  • Value: Up to $50,000
